iHerb Shopping Spree Giveaway

When Abby from iHerb asked me if I’d like to go on a $50 shopping spree and then offer an additional shopping spree to one of my readers, I decided to turn her down.

Just kidding :)

Of course I said “YES”… iHerb carries over 19,000 products! They’ve got herbal supplements, cosmetics and personal care items that are organic and/or cruelty-free, as well as over 1,000 natural and specialty grocery items (many of which are vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, and organic). I couldn’t wait to browse their online catalog.

Once I saw the enormity of their stock, it didn’t take long for me to decide what to purchase. I’d been itching to try Shauna’s gluten free version of David Leite’s famous chocolate chip cookies, but was having trouble finding all the special gluten-free ingredients locally. I had no problem finding them at iHerb, though- they carry just about everything for the health-conscious cook.

So I ordered sorghum flour, tapioca starch, potato starch, amaranth flour, and xanthan gum specifically so I could make these cookies. I also ordered some teff flour, plus a jar of my favorite coconut oil.

The prices were excellent and shipping was free (it’s always free if you order more than $40 worth of goods). Everything came super fast (they ship your items out on the same day if you place your order before 1 pm PST). I am really impressed by this company.

And the cookies?

They’re amazing…especially right out of the oven.

I’ll definitely make them again, and now that I’ve added these ingredients to my pantry, I’ll be able to branch out a lot more in the gluten-free baking department: I’m pretty excited about that.
