Drinking enough Water is probably the most beneficial thing you can do for your body and your health, but it’s not always easy. I’ve always struggled to drink more water, I’m not sure why. I know it’s something I should always be doing, but for some reason I just struggle.
We all know we’re supposed to drink (at least) two litres every day. More if it’s hot or we’re active, but how do we really accomplish that without feeling like we’re constantly guzzling?
Here are my top 5 tips, to get yourself in the habit of drinking more water on a daily basis! Don’t forget to pin this post using the image below!
1. Use a drinking container you LOVE
This one might seem a bit silly, but it’s made a huge difference to me. By having a dedicated water container (in my case, a very “Pinterest” 1 litre glass mason jar), you will feel more motivated to go and keep filling it up. Investing in these jars has helped me up my daily water intake a lot.
I also like to use a straw to drink my water, but I was absolutely SHOCKED to learn that in the US alone, 500 MILLION plastic straws are used and thrown away EVERY SINGLE DAY! That’s insane. I definitely don’t want to be a part of adding even more plastic into landfill on the planet, so I decided to buy some glass straws instead. There are many kinds of re-useable straws available, glass is my preference but you can also get stainless steel.
2. Make it bubbly!
I don’t know about you, but I’m way more likely to finish a glass of water that’s sparkling rather than still. If you currently drink a lot of soda, and want to move towards drinking more water, sparkling water is also great for making that transition.
You could just buy bottles of sparkling water from the grocery store to have at home, but we love our Sodastream. It’s a simple kitchen device that allows you to carbonate water at the push of a button. The canisters last for ages and it’s a kitchen appliance we couldn’t live without now!
3. Customise your ice
Ice cubes don’t have to be boring, or even made of water… I use my ice cubes as a way to jazz up my water a bit. Simply add berries or other fruits into the ice cube tray with the water for a fun twist on regular ice.
You could also simply add in frozen berries to act as ice cubes themselves!
Other great additions for subtle flavour are herbs such as mint, basil, rosemary and citrus mint. You can refill your container on top of them throughout the day for an ongoing burst of flavour as they infuse!

4. Challenge yourself
In all aspects of my life, I perform better when I have a goal. In order to keep myself accountable to my goals, I like to set myself challenges. On a daily basis, by physically writing down my water intake, and being able to cross it off as I go, I am much more successful in my daily goal to drink more water.
I use the bullet journal system to keep myself organised. I love it as a system because i’m not confined to a particular planner layout, and I can use it however I need to. Each day, I draw myself 8 little cups at the top of my page, and tick them off as I refill my jar.
Another great idea I’ve seen, although not tried myself, is a water bottle that has lines drawn on with the time of day. That way you can see exactly by 1pm you should have drunk x amount, etc. This is something you could easily make yourself with a bottle and a permanent marker.
5. Eat your water!
Now before you just think I’m crazy, this tip actually works SO well if you struggle to just drink large amounts of plain water. I’m talking about high water content fruits. Think watermelon, oranges, apples, cucumber, tomatoes. The list could go on forever.
By no means should these be the only foods you eat, or the only source of water you get, but if you’re struggling to get through two full litres of plain water everyday, incorporating some of these foods into your diet every day will help you up and keep you feeling great!

Don’t be disheartened if you struggle to get through lots of water everyday. I do too. These tips have helped me improve how much water I’m drinking SO much, and I hope they help you too! Don’t forget to subscribe to my YouTube channel for weekly videos, and pin this post to come back to later!
